Datta Jayanthi, December 23rd 2007

Swamiji Conveys His Divine Blessings to All on the ocassion of Datta Jayanthi, December 23rd 2007.

The path of Dattatreya embraces all spiritual paths. He who treads the path of Truth, regardless of what religion he belongs to, is treading the path of Dattatreya. As an incarnation of God- Guru, Datta came down to spread the universality of true religion. Lord Dattatreya in reality is the Eternal Spiritual Guide of all mankind.

Datta's presence is not limited to any one country or sphere, as He is the Guru of all Gurus, the all-seeing, all-powerful, ever-present link between God and Man.

Lord Dattatreya teaches us the true meaning of sacrifice, it is the giving up of ego. Atri, His father, symbolizes a person who has transcended the three gunas or beyond the three gunas and Anasooya represents freedom from jealousy. As ultimate self-sacrifice, the Supreme God gave Himself as Datta to Atri and Anasooya. Hence, "Datta" means not only "that which is given", but also as the ideal of "giving" without desire for reward, i.e. selfless giving. The whole life of Dattatreya shows us that this "giving" selflessly is the true renunciation/sacrifice Worshipping Atri and Anasuya, the parents of Dattatreya, will enable a person to transcend the three dispositions of Sattva, Rajas and Tamas and to rid himself of jealousy and become the recipient of the divine energy in full measure. This is what is meant by the attainment of the state of Dattatreya.

Lord Dattatreya teaches us to perform all our duties competently and conscientiously. He teaches us to change our outlook and transform our attitude to life. This "change" consists of giving up the idea or feeling of "doer ship", "enjoyer ship" and the resultant anxiety (arising from attachment) for the fruits of our actions. By performing all our duties with this changed outlook, our mind will be freed from agitation and attain the restful state called "equanimity", or the state where there is no "mind". This is the state of Bliss that every soul ultimately aspires to attain. This is the state of Datta.

In every person, the energy of desire - Iccha sakti, the energy of knowledge - Jnana sakti and energy of action - Kriya sakti dwell respectively in the heart, the brain and the spine. These three represent Vishnu, Brahma and Maheshwara, the Trinity. Dattatreya symbolizes the state of union of these three energies. The energy resulting from the union of devotion, wisdom and action is Dattatreya Sakti. That energy is the omnipotent and omnipresent electro-magnetic energy. The person who attains that energy is himself Dattasakti. For the energy in every man to become one with Dattasakti pervading the entire universe, the path to be trod is that of LOVE, WISDOM and COMPASSION. He who takes that path will be able to render service to fellow men and service to fellowmen is service to God. Only when the electrical energy flows into a bulb, the bulb glows. Mere flowing of electric current through a conductor does not light up a lamp. In the same way when the cosmic energy in the form of knowledge flows into an engineer, his engineering expertise blossoms or when it flows into a doctor, his skill as a doctor flowers. This energy is Dattasakti, regarded as a single unified form of Brahma, Vishnu and Maheshwara. In truth, the three, Brahma, Vishnu and Maheshwara are in each of us in the form of unified power of "construction, protection and merger" (Sristhi, Sthithi and Laya), which is Dattasakti. They are not three separate powers by manifestations of one and the same power just as the same man may have different roles simultaneously, of a husband, a son, a father, a grandfather, a friend, etc. Truth, Knowledge, the Infinite and the Supreme (Sathyam, Jnanam, Anantham and Brahma) constitute the underlying principle of Dattasakti.

Swamiji conveys His Divine Blessings to everyone on the occasion of Datta Jayanthi to strive to obtain that energy, and attain the state of Dattatreya, that of ultimate bliss.

Mukkoti Ekadasi, December 20th 2007

On the auspicious day of Mukkoti Ekadasi or Vaikuntha Ekadasi all of the Gods(3 crores) unite and bless us. In reality all these Gods reside in our Body, and hence it is very important to keep the body healthy and the mind pure. This is the real meaning of Vaikuntha Ekadasi. Vaikuntha is not anywhere, it is in our heart and the Lord resides in the heart. On this day the ksheerasagara manthana (churning of the ocean) took place and the nectar of immortality (amritha) was distributed to the gods. This divine event is interpreted in the following manner. The ocean of milk is the human heart filled with satvic tendencies (kindness, purity and goodness). However, in all of us there exist both types of inclinations, good (devas) and bad (asuras). Only Sadhana or the churning process will throw out the poison in us and we can procure the sweet nectar, which will liberate us from the cycle of birth and death.

Christmas, December 25th 2007

The proclamation of Jesus Christ - "LOVE THY NEIGHBOUR AS THYSELF" is in reality the essence of Advaita - the principle of non-duality preached by Adi Sankaracharya. Realize that what is in you is also in every other being, so love every one else just as you love yourself. On the ocassion of Christmas the best prayer we could offer to the Lord is filling our hearts with Love, mind with Peace thereby bring peace and joy in the world as desired by Jesus Christ.

New Year, January 1st 2008

Swamiji has conveyed his hearty divine blessings on the ocassion New Year. He has wished everyone a New Year which would bring peace, prosperity and happiness to everyone all over the world. To bring about peace we have to remember that wherever we are, the Mother earth is our Mother and we are indebted to it, and it is our first and foremost duty to keep the earth safe, by maintaining the balance of the five elements.

Don't neglect the Mother Earth on which we are living.

Save the Mother Earth.

Worship Mother Earth.

Keep Mother Earth free of pollution.

Keep the five element(sky, wind, fire, water and earth) free of pollution.

Make this Earth an Abode of Peace.

Swamiji urges devotees all over the world to work unitedly with dedication as one family, setting aside feelings of religion, caste country etc, as humanity is the most important thing. Only universal integration and world peace will lead to prosperity and happiness.
