A journalist asked me, “Swamiji, is India a poor country?” I simply smiled and kept quiet. He said , “Swamiji,  I know what your answer will be. You will say that India is a pure country.” I said, "it is true that India is a pure country, but India is not a poor country at all." “Once upon a time India was a rich country. I can give you proof for that. If India was not rich, why did the Dutch, Portuguese or French come to India? They came because it was a good market, and it had wealth, it was rich. Everyone came  and took the wealth from India, but still there is a lot of wealth. India is  rich today also ….. We have abundance of knowledge and intellect. The most we export today is intellectuals. India proudly proclaims that intellectual power from India is being used all over the world in all the countries, and with that whole world is prospering.”

A journalist told me that a Swamiji said that Yogis and Mahatma’s incarnate when sin is at its peak. So he asked that Swamiji that since so many Yogis and Mahatma’s are coming from India does it mean that sin is at  its peak in India? That Swamiji had no answer for this question, so he was asking me . I told him that In a medical college, there are a lot of doctors. Some are physicians, some are surgeons, and some are medical students. The place is full of doctors, so does it mean that the medical college is full of patients? No. What they are doing in a medical college is, they are producing doctors and sending them out in the world to treat the patients. Similarly, India is a spiritual medical college, where we are producing spiritual doctors, and sending them all over the world to cure the diseases (of the mind) of the people. That is the real reason why yogis and Siddha purusha’s are coming from India. All intellectuals with a good heart are looking towards India with a hope that a ray of peace, a divine ray, a ray of hope will come from India to protect our society which is in a turmoil.

All of you should become more and more prosperous, and get all the five strengths namely – physical, mental, financial, social and spiritual strengths. These five strengths are required for each individual, family, race and nation.

God is the omnipotent, omnipresent cosmic energy and current which is pervading through each and every atom in the universe and residing in the deepest part of each and every heart and atom.  Once upon a time they discovered that matter is in one of the three forms namely : solid, liquid and gas. Scientists did research and concluded that  solid, liquid, gases are all composed of atoms, and they believed that atom was indivisible. Further research proved that atom is indeed divisible and it is composed of a nucleus in the center, and electrons and protons revolving around the nucleus. They then compared the atom to the solar system, and said that miniature solar system, i.e. universe exists in the atom. They compared the nucleus to the sun, and electrons and protons to the planets etc. i.e. Anoraneyaan Mahato Maheyaan – meaning that God exists in the minutest of minutest and mightiest of mightiest, this is Viswa Roopa Sandarshanam.

Recently scientists at NASA have announced that parallel to the force of gravity which acts towards the center of the earth, there is another force that is going to infinity. Because of this force our universe is safe, it  has no death, and it is immortal. The NASA scientists have named this as cosmic energy . I have been mentioning this for the past 25-30 years in my discourses  , the same thing was also preached by many yogis in the past. This power that has created the nature, and pervades through each and every atom in the universe is called Cosmo electromagnetic power This cosmic energy is GOD.

The whole universe is incarnation of GOD. The first name of Lord Vishnu in the Vishnu Sahasranama is “Viswam” – meaning the Universe. To worship Lord Vishnu, you have to worship the universe. That is real service and worship to Lord. We should not pollute the Universe which is form of Vishnu. If we serve the five mothers namely – Mother who gave birth, Motherland, Mother earth, Mother universe and Go Mata (Holy Cow) , and keep them happy, the world would be an abode of peace.

The body is nothing but representation of the universe. Atom and the universe are the same. Atom is identical to human body and it is identical to the infinite universe. All infinite divine powers are in us. We talk about the seven wonders, but the best wonder on this earth is the human body. We are fighting over man built temples, man built mosques and churches etc. but we are neglecting this body, which is the temple made by GOD. That is why it is said that Body is the temple of the Lord, and Heart is the altar of the Lord.

God has endowed man with intelligence so that he can use it for the benefit of mankind. But due to arrogance man is trying to show his supremacy  over nature and God, by polluting the universe and going against the universal rules. The intellectual power of intellectuals should be used only for the good of society and not for destructive purposes. Using the power for destructive purposes will destroy the person. Story of Bhasmasura is a proof to this. Bhasmasura did penance and prayed to Lord Siva. Lord Siva was pleased with Bhasmasura’s penance, appeared before him and granted him a boon. Bhasmasura wanted a boon whereby any one on whom he places his hand should be reduced to ashes. Lord Siva granted the boon, because he saw only the devotion there.  Now having got the boon, Bhasmasura wanted to test this on Lord Siva himself.  Seeing this Goddess Parvati goes to Lord Vishnu for help. Then Lord Vishnu came in form a beautiful maiden. The maiden enchants the demon, and proposes to him. Bhasmasura forgets all his penance and wants to marry her. The maiden says that since she is a good dancer, she will marry him only if he dances with her . She  danced by doing many steps, and Bhasmasura followed her dance. Finally she placed her hand over her head, and Bhasmasura  placed his hand over his own head, and  he was destroyed.  Today danger is not because of thieves or illiterate people, but because of perverted intelligence. People should use knowledge for the good of society, only then they will be benefited but if it is used for harming others, the people will meet their end like Bhasmasura.

Mind is the root cause of everything. Mind can make hell of heaven or heaven of hell. “Manayo manushyanam bandha mokshayo.” Once the people in hell and heaven  had a problem. They could not bend their bodies. Lots of food was sent from the earth to heaven and hell. I went to visit hell and heaven with a few doctors etc. to see how bad the situation was. The condition in hell was pathetic, everyone was crying, they could not eat any food as they couldn’t bend their hands to take the food to the mouth. Everyone felt bad about their condition . Next we went to heaven. Here the situation was quite opposite. There was no food, they wanted more food, no one was crying. Every one was happy. This is what they were doing. They could not put food into their own mouth, but with stretched arms they could feed each other. The problem  is same in both the places, but in heaven with coordination & cooperation, they solved their problem.

God loves those people who love humanity and behave as human beings. If he loves only those people who pray to him, and not others he can’t be GOD at all.  Abu bin Adam was a social reformer, he never prayed to God. One night he was awakened, and he saw an angel writing down something in moonlight, in a corner in his room. He  woke up and asked her, “Who are you? And what are you writing?” She replied “I am an angel and I am writing a list of those who love God and pray to God.” He asked the angel if his name was there in that list. The angel  replied saying that his name was not in that list.  Abu bin Adam told the angel, that she could add his name to the list of people who love other people. Then he went back to sleep. The second day he got up again. Again he saw the angel writing down something. He asked her if she was writing the same thing again. She said, “no, today I am writing list of all those people whom the God loves.” He didn’t say anything and was going back to bed. The angel asked him, “how come you are not asking anything?” He replied, “What is there to ask, I know my name will not be in there.” The angel replied, “Your name is the first one on the list.” God  loves and keeps in his heart those who love and serve everyone.

Consider a scene of an accident. A patient is brought into the hospital. All his relatives are in the hospital, everyone is crying. A doctor comes, but he doesn’t cry. He is checking the temperature, looking at the x-ray, is observing the patient, and then he makes arrangements for the operation. He performs the operation, and after three days, the patient walks out of the hospital, everyone is happy and laughing now. So if the doctor had cried on seeing the patient all these people would not have been laughing. To solve a problem, the mind should not be affected; only then a solution can be found. Doctors and Yogis are like that. Their mind is not affected by the problems of the outside world; hence they  are able to find solution to the problems.

A problem is a problem until and unless it is solved. If you are capable enough to solve the problem, there is no problem at all.

“I was asked, ‘There is so much turmoil in the society today, what do you feel about it?’  Consider the case of a women delivering a baby. She is in so much pain. She is shouting , screaming and crying in pain. All her relatives are there, they know she is in pain, but still they are happy, because they all know that the baby is going to be born. The doctor doesn’t feel bad. Once the baby is born, the mother holds the baby and caresses it, and all the pain is forgotten. Every one is happy.  Similarly, I  view this turmoil and unrest in the society as the labor pains mother earth is bearing,  to deliver the baby, the baby here is universal peace.”

A journalist asked me,  as to why in India we worship trees & plants ? I said that if someone gives you something what do you say ? The journalist said, of course we will say Thank You. What does the plant do ? We take in Oxygen and give out Carbon dioxide. If this continues  Oxygen level will reduce and Carbon dioxide level will increase. Now the under side of the leaves of the plant , absorb Carbon dioxide and give out Oxygen, which we are using again. What we excrete, e.g. urine etc. we use as fertilizer for the plants. The plants take this through the roots, using all this it grows, produces fruit/vegetables and gives it to us as food. So basically it is taking all that we consider a waste, and giving us in return food to use. So should we not show our gratitude by saying Thank you, Thank you very much  etc? So by worshiping the trees we are saying Thank you for what they are doing for us.

Today education is not building character; it is only transferring knowledge from books into the minds of men. Man should be reformed by education. For example, when cotton ripens it is taken to a mill and the seeds are removed. Then it goes to the spinning mill and thread is woven. From here it goes to textile mill and is turned into fabric. That fabric is used for making clothes, which we wear. If we directly use the cotton to cover us, it will be blown away by the fan. So cotton is reformed when it turns into clothes. Similarly, a man is reformed when he is useful to his family and society, by standing on his feet, and gets  good name and fame to his country. So a man should be reformed by education, and not become a question mark for the society.

Yoga means Union. Yoga is the connection of the individual mind with the Universal mind. Once there is no difference between the personal mind and the universal mind, the power keeps flowing through you from the universe. Once you are connected to the universal source, your power will not reduce, how much ever you use it. In the Bhagwad Gita, when Arjuna is confused as to which of the paths specified by Lord Krishna he should follow, Lord Krishna tells Arjuna that he could choose any path he liked, but he should be a Yogi, i.e. have connection with Guru or God. If ones mind is connected with God or the Universal mind there is no reason for fear. It is like an airplane connected to the control tower. As long as the airplane has a connection with the control tower, there is no reason for fear. Once it  loses its connection, then we have to worry about its whereabouts. Similarly as long as you have connection with Guru or God, you have no reason to fear, since he holds the remote control to protect you.

Guru is the incarnation of GOD in human form. He has his mind connected to the universal mind. You can establish connection with the universal mind with the grace and help of Guru who is already connected to the universal mind. If you are connected with your Guru or God, he gives you what you want and also helps you retain it.

Guru is mother; in fact he is more than a mother. Guru is father in fact he is more than a father. Guru is the best navigator, best advisor, Guru is a friend indeed, and he is the best scavenger. Doing everything he seems to be nothing.

Guru does not solve our problems; he gives us the capability and strength to solve our problems ourselves.

“I am only a reflection of the infinite cosmic power that is in the universe. I am like a bulb giving light because of the current passing through me. The source of this current is the universe. If the bulb has to glow, there has to be a switch. The switch is in your heart, in your will power.”

Religion is finite, but Spirituality is infinite and universal. If there is an epidemic, and patients are admitted in a hospital. The doctors give the same treatment, irrespective of the caste, religion or country of the person. For a particular disease treatment is the same everywhere. Similarly Spirituality too is the same for all mankind.

A Sadguru moulds our mind and transforms us into people with good character, and finally transforms us into God himself. Let me tell you a story. “There is a very small village, and near it there is a big stone. Everyone throws garbage on it, spits on it. It is abuse by the villagers in every possible way. A committee is organized to build a temple for Lord Krishna. They collect funds and a beautiful temple is built. Now they wanted to install an idol of Lord Krishna. They were thinking of some places from where they could get a good sculptor. Someone suggested that in a nearby village there was a good sculptor, so there was no need to go to a far off place. The committee approached the sculptor, but he wanted to see the temple first, before he made the idol. So he went to the village. On the way he also saw that stone and how the villagers were abusing it. He came at midnight with his own people, and took that stone and kept it inside the place where he used to carve the idols. The villagers came to check on the progress after three months. The sculptor said that he was ever ready. He opened the door, and opened the curtain. Everyone was amazed by the skill of the sculptor. The idol was that of Lord Krishna dancing with his divine flute. They took that idol in a cart with all honors in a big procession. In the temple, a Swamiji was there to do the Prana pratistha, i.e. install the idol with all the Vedic rituals. Everyone was overjoyed. The sculptor went to the stage, took the microphone, and started laughing. Everyone was annoyed, and asked him as to what kind of a lunatic he was? The Sculptor said, “I am laughing at you. The idol that you are worshipping is the same stone which you all used to abuse with all your hearts content, just 3 months ago.” The villagers were really ashamed of themselves.” Each and every one of us is a stone, and the sculptor is the Sadguru. What did the sculptor do in reality? He cleaned the stone, chipped out unwanted parts of the stone, and carved the idol. In a similar way, a Sadguru also cleanses us of all the blemishes, and transforms us into good individuals and finally transforms us into God.

I gave my message to the Indians living in the America, “You are very lucky, you are having two mothers. Mother India and Mother America. You have to love and respect India & America, you have to salute the Indian flag and the American lag, obey the rules and regulations of the constitution of India and America, and unite and mix your heart with the heart of Americans, and strive to make India and America coming closer and closer to do something good for Universal Integration and Peace”. The two countries should come closer, join other countries with them and accomplish the task of getting world peace.

Compare the whole world to the human body. Each and every organ is a country. Head is America, shoulders are Russia and China, India is the heart and the heartbeat is spirituality or Divinity. Doctors know that if heart functions a 100%, blood circulation is proper to all the organs and everything is perfect. If heart functions only 60% or 70%, then some parts will not receive blood, and they will be paralyzed. If the heart does not function well, the first organ to be affected is the brain. So it is not just the people in India who should keep India peaceful, but the responsibility of America too.
